This Dog Saves Lives and Solves Crimes
Happy Thursday, Impact Jobbers. We hereby declare this Thursday, November 14, Dog Celebration Day. Who gave us the official power to do this? No one. But trust us, what the world needs now is dogs, sweet dogs.
So we’re here to tell you about one sweet pup that is a literal life saver and crime fighter. Meet Bo, the 18-month-old gentle giant that serves as a K-9 officer with a police department in North Carolina.
Bo just won the 2024 American Humane Hero Dog Award in the law enforcement and first responder category. We would give him a prize for his ears alone. LOOK AT HIM.
Bo is a top-notch scent tracker, and he’s used his skills to find missing people. He’s located elderly dementia patients and young children, and he’s known for greeting them with comforting kisses to celebrate their safe return.
But he doesn’t stop there. Bo has also busted robbers and bad guys with his impeccable nose.
One of his most memorable cases happened on a cold January night when he trudged through harsh conditions for miles to track a missing elderly person who was thankfully found safe.
If you ask us (and all the people that voted for him), Bo is a modern day superhero.
Why are we telling you about Bo, besides to add some joy to your inbox? Because if you want to work with animals, Guide Dogs for the Blind is currently hiring.
If that job isn’t the right fit, scroll down for more Impact Jobs that are hot off the presses. Be like Bo and go make the world a nicer place.

Win of the Week:
We’re telling you about ANOTHER award-winning dog. Meet Sampson, the winner of the service dog category. Sampson dedicated nine years to supporting his handler after a traumatic brain injury, and the two have even gone on to advocate for service dogs and their handlers in front of congress.
Bummer of the Week:
Nope, not this week. Let’s introduce you to another dog. Dayo has lived a remarkable life - he spent nine years as a companion to a cheetah at a wildlife conservation park before becoming a therapy dog. This year he won the therapy dog award for all of his work. He spends his days visiting kids at hospitals, spreading joy at bereavement camps, and even helping kids learn to read.
