Happy weekend eve, Impact Jobbers! Before you clock out, let’s talk about everyone’s favorite subject: AI.
If you Google, “should I use AI to write my job applications,”…you’re going to get an AI-generated answer that says YES OF COURSE YOU SHOULD YOU STUPID HUMAN.
Okay, not really, but there are a ton of AI tools at your fingertips that could make the job application process easier and more efficient…so should you use them?
According to a report by TopResume, hiring teams use AI to screen candidates, and yet some of them say they’ll reject AI-written applications. Hmm.

Here are the key findings:
1 in 5 recruiters would reject a candidate who submitted an AI application
Over a third of hiring managers can spot AI-written application materials within 20 seconds
14.5% of hiring managers think applicants shouldn’t use AI at all
You can read the full report linked above for more stats that show how hirers really feel about applicants using AI. But we’ll save you some time…they don’t like it.
So YEAH, it’s a big ol’ double standard, but guess what? You gotta suck it up. AI tools may help you crank out more job interviews than before, but hirers still want to see the human behind the resume.
We’re not saying you should never use AI to help you land a job, but there’s a right and wrong way to do it. That’s what we’re diving into over the next few weeks.

Win of the Week:
Sometimes the big guy loses! In a landmark ruling, a jury unanimously decided that Live Nation and Ticketmaster were operating as a monopoly, exploiting both venues and customers. Live Nation has already promised to appeal the decision, but for now we can bask in the victory.
Bummer of the Week:
A new study from BearingPoint shows that companies are struggling to keep up with their sustainability ambitions, especially with the added pressure of AI. The question becomes: can companies leverage AI to advance sustainability goals while also balancing the rising energy and resource demands that AI creates?
